There are more than 30,000 former child soldiers in the West African nation of Liberia alone, many of whom are eager to help rebuild their country. Now a unique photography program is helping some of them see hope and beauty again, and regain the respect of their communities as peacemakers.
“Salam Shabab” is a USIP-sponsored TV special program featuring a diverse group of Iraqi teens that represent Iraq’s next generation of peacebuilders. The thirty youth from across the country come together in Erbil, Iraq to interact in dynamic youth-generated activities and contests. Through this experience, they develop the skills that enable them to contribute to building a peaceful Iraq.
